  1. Q: How do I schedule a show to "RECORD"? Top

    Answer: Use the UP/DOWN or LEFT/RIGHT keys on the remote to highlight the desired show. Select the RECORD button to schedule a show for recording Once. A confirmation message will appear on the screen and an "R" will appear next to the scheduled title.

    NOTE: Naming used for remote control buttons can vary by product, refer to your owner's manual for the specific remote control button used to control TV Guide On Screen's functionality.

  2. Q: Why won't my VCR turn on? Top

    Answer: Six possibilities are:

    1. An incorrect or no VCR brand code was selected during the TV Guide On Screen initial set-up. To correct this, press the GUIDE key on the remote, highlight LISTINGS, then use the RIGHT/LEFT arrow keys to highlight SETUP. Use the DOWN arrow key to highlight "Change system settings," then press OK*. Follow the on-screen prompts to select the correct VCR information.
    2. The G-LINK cable or wand has been connected or placed incorrectly.
    3. The VCR record timer is engaged. The user must disengage timer.
    4. The VCR remote mode was set to "B" or "2." The remote should be set to "A" or "1."
    5. The VCR does not have remote power capability. The user must leave the VCR ON for recording
    6. The wired remote VCR is incompatible.

  3. Q: My VCR doesn't change channels or it changes to the wrong channel. What's wrong? Top

    Answer: Here are three possibilities:

    1. The cable box code was entered when no cable box is used. The user must re-do initial set-up.
    2. The VCR channels are not programmed into VCR memory. Refer to your VCR's owner's manual for procedures.
    3. The VCR's Cable TV mode (CATV) was set incorrectly (For problems with channels 14 and above, refer to your VCR's owner's manual).

    Answer: There are three possibilities (without a cable box):

    1. The cable box code was entered when no cable box is used. The user must re-do initial set-up.
    2. The VCR channels are not programmed into VCR memory. Refer to your VCR's owner's manual for procedures.
    3. The VCR's Cable TV mode (CATV) was set incorrectly (For problems with channels 14 and above, refer to your VCR's owner's manual).

    1. The VCR is not set on the correct output channel. Set the VCR to 03, 04 or whichever output channel is set by your cable system.
    2. The VCR and/or cable box is hooked up incorrectly. Refer to the VCR's owner's manual or contact the cable company for proper wiring procedure.
    3. The cable box was left OFF. The user should always leave the cable box ON and the VCR OFF.
  5. Q: Can I record one channel while watching another? Top

    Answer: (without a cable box):

    Perhaps. It depends on your equipment and how the recorder is set up. Please reference the owners manual for your recorder.

    Answer: (with a cable box):

    Not likely. You cannot watch one program and record another unless a splitter or some special type of "watch 'n record" device is in use. Please contact your local cable company or an electronics dealer for more information.

  6. Q: How many programs can be scheduled for FAVORITE/RECORD in the GUIDE? Top

    Answer: There is NO limit to the number of shows that can be scheduled.

  7. Q: If a series is scheduled to RECORD on a REGULAR basis, do all upcoming episodes appear in the SCHEDULE/RECORD list? Top

    Answer: No, whether a program is scheduled ONCE, REGULARLY or WEEKLY only the next scheduled occurrence will display in the SCHEDULE. Once that is recorded and past, the next episode will be displayed.

  8. Q: Why does my SCHEDULE screen only show the channel number of the show I'm recording? Top

    Answer: The time slot and channel for the scheduled program may have not yet received listings information. Once updated information is received the title will appear in the SCHEDULE screen.

  9. Q: If I have a power failure, will I need to reset the recorded shows I have already programmed? Top

    Answer: No. The start times and channel numbers of shows that have been programmed will remain in TV Guide On Screen's memory. (Please see owner's manual for specifics.)
