  1. Q: When I'm using my TV Guide On Screen to channel surf, my cable box doesn't change right away. Is this normal? Top

    Answer: Yes, there is a short delay of approximately two (2) seconds from the time the user selects a channel to the time the cable box changes.

  2. Q: My cable box will not change channels with TV Guide On Screen system. What's wrong? Top

    Answer: There are five possibilities:

    1. The cable box has no remote capability and is incompatible.
    2. The cable box sensor has not been activated so the user must contact their local cable company.
    3. The incorrect cable box brand code was selected during the TV Guide On Screen initial set-up. To correct this, go to the TV Guide On Screen Main Menu Bar, highlight Setup and choose "Change system settings".
    4. The user has an "after market" brand cable box which may be incompatible.
    5. The user has incorrectly connected or placed the G-LINK cable or wand.
  3. Q: How do I expand or exit the Information Box? Top

    Answer: Simply press the INFO key on the remote. It works like a toggle switch. There are different sized 3 window settings.

  4. Q: What kind of information appears in the MESSAGES center of the GUIDE? Top

    Answer: Useful Product Related Information (PRI) alerting the user to new features or data available through the TV Guide On Screen system.

  5. Q: Can I return to the GUIDE's "MAIN MENU BAR" without having to cursor through all the channels? Top

    Answer: Yes. Press the MENU button on the remote and then choose the "Go to Service Bar" option.

  6. Q: Is there a way to go directly to the next day's listings without scrolling through each time slot? Top

    Answer: Yes. From the LISTINGS grid use the remote 0-9 keys to type in the number of hours you wish to skip ahead or back. When Shortcuts appears choose "hours ahead" or "hours back".

    Note: Time slots that have already passed cannot be accessed.

  7. Q: How do I set a reminder for a show? Top

    Answer: Use the UP/DOWN or LEFT/RIGHT keys on the remote to highlight the desired show. Press the MENU key on the remote. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to highlight "set reminder". Then press OK*. Use the UP/DOWN or LEFT/RIGHT keys on the remote to make adjustments or just press OK* to "schedule reminder".

  8. Q: How do I view the PROMOTIONS on the TV Guide On Screen system? Top

    Answer: Use the LEFT arrow on the remote to highlight the Ad panel on the left of the screen, or; Highlight LISTINGS, then use the LEFT/RIGHT key on the remote to move to PROMOTIONS on the Main Menu Bar. Use the UP/DOWN keys to select which panels you want to read.

  9. Q: How do I get expanded information on the PROMOTIONS? Top

    Answer: From the PROMOTIONS panel on the Main Menu Bar, use the DOWN arrow key on the remote to select a promotional panel. Then Use the LEFT arrow on the remote to highlight the Ad panel on the left of the screen or; press INFO.

  10. Q: Can I keep the video window from changing channels while I am using the Guide? Top

    Answer: Yes. Use UP/DOWN or LEFT/RIGHT keys on the remote to highlight LISTINGS or the station logo column. Press the MENU key on the remote then use the LEFT/RIGHT keys to change the video to "lock" or "unlocked". Press OK* when done.

  11. Q: Can I search for show listings by title or category? Top

    Answer: Yes. You can search for show listings categorically (movies, sports, children, educational, news, variety, series, HDTV), alphabetically or by keyword. From the Main Menu Bar, use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys on the remote to select SEARCH. Then, use the UP/DOWN or LEFT/RIGHT keys on the remote to highlight the desired category, sub-category or letter. Press OK* to display listings. Or; search by KEYWORD (click link for instructions).

  12. Is there a way to go directly to a specific channel number rather than surfing through all of the listings? Top

    Answer: Yes. From the LISTINGS grid use the remote 0-9 keys to type in the channel number you wish to see. When Shortcuts appears use the UP/DOWN to choose "go to channel" then press OK*. (Extra Tip: Some models may just require keying in the channel number then pressing OK*)
